Gen. Abdilmalik Jibril, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has assured that the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu, will enhance intelligence and security in the country for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Jibril, who is also the Director, Directorate of Intelligence and Security, APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), gave the assurance in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
He congratulated Tinubu on his victory at the Feb. 25 presidential election and called on those who contested the election with him to approach the court if they felt uncomfortable with its outcome.
Jibril noted that security and peace were vital to Nigeria and its neighbours.
He added that haven improved security in Lagos State when he served as governor which led to growth and development of the state, Tinubu would do same at the national level.
“His manifesto has stated that he will strive to ensure and enhance peace for the socio-economic development of the country,” Jibril said.
He added that the combination of Tinubu and the Vice-President elect, Sen. Kashim Shettima was what the country needed at the moment to combat insecurity.
He noted that the proactive achievements of Shettima, the Vice-President elect when he was Governor of Borno, led to the reduction of attacks by Boko Haram in the state.
“Formed the Civilian Joint Task Force, (CTTF), he gave hope to the people and will continue his zeal towards improved security at the national level,” he said.
Jibril called on Nigerians to avoid acts that would jeorpardise the country’s peace.

He also called on politicians and Nigerians generally to continue supporting security agencies with intelligence, saying that this was critical to tackle cases of insecurity before they got out of hand.
Also in a statement, Mrs Cesnabmihilo Nuhu-Aken’ova, a former presidential aspirant of Social Democratic Party (SDP), said a better future was assured for Nigerian youths and the country generally under a Tinubu presidency.
Nuhu-Aken’ova, while congratulating Tinubu for emerging as the president-elect, said his victory at the poll was well deserved.
She said along with her supporters, she defected to the APC ahead of the presidential election, haven seen Tinubu’s winning potential and his antecedents as a former two-term governor of Lagos State.
“Immediately he is sworn-in, young people would enjoy uninterrupted school calendar, job opportunities and career growth and development.
“There will be development and learning opportunities that will equip youths to serve the country and the world at large shoulder to shoulder with their peers across the globe.
“Nigerians, especially the most marginalised,  will have access to quality and holistic healthcare which has hitherto been the reserve of the rich and a select few,” she said.
Nuhu-Aken’ova called on the opposition candidates at the election to accept defeat for the entrenchment of democratic governance through rule of law in the interest of all.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tinubu polled 8, 794,726 to emerge winner of the election according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate and Tinubu’s closest rival got 6, 984, 520 votes while Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party polled 6,101, 533 at the election
