Asserting that peace can only be restored if the current governor steps down, the troubled former governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has pledged to render Imo State ungovernable for Gov. Hope Uzodimma.
Emeka Ihedioha was audibly heard saying, “They should leave the government house for Emeka to come and govern for peace to reign,” in a leaked phone conversation that was sent to our news agency.
He said, “They will not prevail so long as he is not the Governor.”
The former governor was criticized by Imolites days prior to this disclosure for the missing N19.63 billion LG money under his seven-month rule, which he addressed an Owerri High Court to seek for a perpetual injunction restraining the state government from probing him over the missing funds.
He has been fingered by a civil society group in the state called Coalition for Justice, Peace and True Democracy over his obvious involvement in the rising insecurity in some parts of the state.
According to the press release and letter signed by the group for onward transmission to the President through the state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, they made it clear that Emeka Ihedioha and his cronies are sponsoring insecurity in the state and appealed to the President for his immediate arrest to avert further loss of lives and properties in the state.
As at press time, neither Chief Emeka Ihedioha nor his representative have come out to either deny or accept the leaked phone conversation and until then we make bold to stand with the facts pending a rebuttal.
