Prof. Chris Imumolen, the Presidential candidate of the Accord Party, has promised to revive ailing refineries and build modular ones if elected president in the forthcoming general elections.
Imumolen, 39, said this on Tuesday at an interactive session organised by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, near Jos.
The candidate maintained that doing so would address the lingering fuel scarcity and the controversial subsidy regime in the nation.
He also promised to end oil theft in the oil producing region, adding that those involved would be rehabilitated and their talents put to good use to boost production.
”Our refineries are just lying there doing nothing and those in power deliberately don’t want to revive them because they want to continue to enjoy the scam called subsidy.
”We are coming to revive those refineries and make them functional so as to boost local production.

”We will not stop there, we shall build modular ones, so that we can end the era of fuel scarcity and the subsidy regime.
”We will harness the talents of bunkers in the creeks and improve on it for good of all, because 90 per cent of the diesel we consume in this country are refined locally in the creeks,” he said.
Imumolen also promised to run an all-inclusive goverment, adding that he would create an opportunity for the youth, women, orphans and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
He promised to build a technologically advanced economy that would enable young people to explore opportunities in order to attain their full potentials and contribute to nation building.
”I will introduce a formidable social welfare package for the aged, PWDs, orphans, retirees and all the less previldged Nigerians.
”We are coming on board to bring succour to Nigerians, not to add to their sufferings, so we will do everything to make life better for every Nigerian,” he said.
Earlier, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, the Director General of the institute, said that NIPPS decided to provide the platform for all presidential candidates to reel out their manifestos to Nigerians.
Represented by Prof. Fummi Para-Mallam, the Director of Studies of the institute, Omotayo thanked the candidate for accepting to appear on the platform and urged other candidates to take the advantage of the opportunity to interface with Nigerians.
