The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has alleged that certain individuals, operating behind the scenes, are spreading misinformation in the media to create a crisis within the state government.
Aiyedatiwa warned the culprits to cease their actions, emphasizing that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s absence has not created any gaps in the governance of the state.
In a statement titled “We Sue for Continued Loyalty, Support, and Commitment to the Development of Ondo State,” issued in Akure, the state capital, the acting governor urged the people of the state to disregard any write-ups that could sow discord.
The statement read, “The State Government has observed orchestrated falsehoods, insinuations, and negative publications, particularly in print and social media, aimed at causing disharmony and discontent within the polity.
“These tactics employed by faceless writers and agent provocateurs are intended to fuel discord, tarnish the hard-earned reputations of individuals in government circles, and divert the government’s attention to serve their own selfish political interests.

“I would like to urge the general public, as always, to disregard these unfortunate lies and subterfuge, as they are the tactics of desperate political actors from across party lines. We assure you that we will not allow this to derail the focus and development policies of our administration, which Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, has consistently pursued over the past six and a half years.
“While some commentators have expressed genuine concerns as stakeholders based on constitutional provisions, we acknowledge and take note of such constructive expressions. This is not to imply that we have been unaware of the requirements of the law.”
The acting governor, who revealed that he had recently spoken with Governor Akeredolu, stated that the governor expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their unwavering support.
“He (Akeredolu) is in high spirits, recuperating, and is expected to return to office to continue his commendable service to the state as soon as he is medically certified fit by his doctors. I have been in contact with him, most recently on Sunday, July 9, 2023, when he expressed his appreciation to me and other members of the State Executive Council for holding the fort in his absence,” Aiyedatiwa affirmed.
