Oborevwori Sheriff Francis Orohwedor has been nominated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to run for governor of Delta State in the 2023 general election by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The ruling was reached by the top court in response to an appeal brought by Mr. David Edevbie, a PDP candidate for governor, who questioned the selection of Oborevwori as the party’s nominee.
Justice Tijani Abubakar wrote and delivered the main decision, while Justice Amina Augie presided over the five Supreme Court justices on the panel.
The Court of Appeal correctly determined that Mr. Edevbie’s lawsuit was improperly started by way of an originating summon rather than a writ of summons, according to Justice Abubakar.
“On the hold, I find no merit in the appeal, and it is hereby dismissed.
