Insecurity No Threat To 2023 Election, IGP Assures
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has stated that there is no threat to the forthcoming general elections in 2023.
The IGP added that the police have put in place a robust security threat analysis carried out using global best standards to ascertain the trend of expectations for the electioneering.
The IG disclosed this at the ongoing United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit in the United States of America, during his meeting with Assistant Secretary, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, U.S. Department of States, Mr Todd Robinson, as part of events rounding up his attendance at the UN summit.

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has anchored his avoidance of public interaction and media chats on a self-acclaimed intellectual superiority over other contenders for Nigeria’s highest office.
Tinubu took to his Twitter account, saying:
I talk less, think more and do more. I am more of an eagle than a parrot. That is why I fly higher.
Since he declared interest to be president, Tinubu has not held or attended a press conference.
‘I Will Crush My Enemies Myself, God Has Many Things To Do’ – Wike
Nyesom Wike, Rivers State governor, has said he will crush his enemies by himself, as according to him, God has given him what it takes to do so.
Wike spoke when he joined the governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, to inaugurate the Okezuo Abia Flyover along the Aba -Enugu Expressway in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, and the rehabilitated Aba- Owerri Road in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State.
He said:
I was in the plane and we were discussing, when he said why won’t I leave this thing for God. I asked ‘What do you mean?’
‘I Received Nothing’ – Peter Obi Denies $150m Diaspora Funding
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has denied receiving alleged $150m funding from Nigerians in the Diaspora.
Recall that a group under the aegis of Tinubu-Shettima Connect had urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Obi over the alleged funding as it violates the Electoral Act on campaign funding.
However, speaking during a meeting with Nigerians in London on Tuesday, the LP presidential candidate said the allegations were based on mere speculation.
Buhari Defeated Atiku In 2019 Because Some PDP Chieftains Sold Out – Wike
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has said that some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) assisted President Muhammadu Buhari in beating Atiku Abubakar in 2019 by negotiating with him.
Wike said the Buhari team approached him to join in the negotiation but he stood his ground to deliver Rivers State for PDP.
The Rivers governor disclosed this during the commissioning of the Rivers State University’s campus in Etche, Rivers State.
PDP Bot Chairman, Jibrin Resigns As Wabara Takes Over
Walid Jibrin, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees, has resigned.
He disclosed this at the National Executive Council meeting currently going on in Abuja.
Meanwhile, Adolphus Wabara, former senate president, has replaced him.
His resignation comes amid the ongoing crisis in the party.
He had argued that the leadership of the party is too pro-north.
PDP NEC Passes Vote Of Confidence In Ayu, NWC
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has passed a vote of confidence in the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, its national chairman.
The confidence vote was passed during the party’s NEC meeting in Abuja and comes amid a push for his resignation by the camp of Nyesom Wike, Rivers State governor.
House minority leader, Ndudi Elumelu moved the motion for the vote of confidence and was seconded by Kola Balogun.
Elumelu said the Ayu-led NWC has been delivering for the party, citing its victory at the recently held Osun State governorship election as evidence.
2023 Election: APC Will Sweep Southeast – Uzodimma
Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo State has said the All Progressives Congress (APC), will triumph in the Southeast in the 2023 general election because it is the only party with structures in all the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the country.
Uzodimma, also the Chairman of APC Presidential Campaign Council in the South-East, said this at a seminar organised by the party for its candidates in Owerri.
Uzodimma said that the seminar was aimed at planning for a successful electioneering campaign for the 2023 poll.
Vote Of Confidence Won’t Save You, Wike Tells Ayu
Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State, has said the vote of confidence passed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Council (NEC) in Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, cannot save him.
The PDP NEC had passed confidence in Ayu, amid a push for his ouster by Wike’s camp.
But speaking at the Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt, during a reception organised for defectors from various political parties to the PDP on Saturday, Wike said the fight to take out Ayu was on.
While Obi Was Still Trader Selling Tomato Ketchup, Tinubu Already Paid His Dues – Fani-Kayode
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has said while the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi was still a trader selling tomato ketchup and Bournvita in 1999, Bola Tinubu had already paid his dues, made his mark and was already running for the Governorship of Lagos State.
Fani-Kayode, in his article, “The Obidients, the Jagaban and the Icarus Syndrome,” said those who are comparing Obi with Tinubu are not serious.

What I find the most irritating and objectionable about the Obidients is not their unadulterated aggression and abusive tendencies but rather their insistence on comparing their leader Peter Obi to Tinubu.
