Newly sworn-in Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo, has said his predecessor, Willie Obiano, left N300million cash and a debt of over N400billion as of December 2021.
Soludo made this shocking revelation in a national television program on Arise TV on Tuesday.
According to Soludo other financial details from January to date are still unavailable but will be made available as soon as possible because they’re public documents.
Recall that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), recently arrested Obiano for alleged misappropriation of public funds.

Obiano was arrested by the EFCC at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, hours after handing over to Governor Charles Soludo.
According to the EFCC source, he was arrested for misappropriating N5bn Sure-P and N37 billion Security Vote funds, which was withdrawn in cash.
It was alleged that part of the funds was also diverted to finance political activities in the state.
The EFCC had requested the Nigeria Immigration Service to inform it anytime Obiano is travelling out of the country from any of the international airports, as well as other points of entry and exit.
In the meantime, this development is coming as Governor Soludo announced three more appointments into his cabinet.
This makes a total of six appointments made so far by the governor, having made three on his inaugural day as a governor last Thursday.
According to a statement in Awka, on Monday, the three new appointees are Mr Ernest Ezeajuyi, Chief of Staff to the Governor; Mr Richard Nwora Madiebo, Chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service; and AVM Ben Chiobi (Rtd.), Special Adviser on Security to the Governor.
The governor had earlier on Thursday, announced Prof. Solo Osita Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government; Dr. Sir Chukwudi Okoli, Accountant General; Mr Chinedu Nwoye, Deputy Chief Of Staff/State Chief of Protocol.
