The Lagos State Government has said that there will be a traffic diversion at Alaka to Stadium axis of Surulere from Friday, November 19, to Wednesday, December 24, 2021.
The partial closure of the road is to enable the replacement of the expansion joints on Stadium Flyover in Surulere.
The disclosure is contained in a statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, who said the repair schedule is in phases and that the diversion points for Phase One will be from Alaka to the Stadium Service Lane inbound Barracks in Surulere.
Oladeinde stated that motorists inbound Jibowu from Alaka will be diverted to the Service Lane to access their destinations, adding that traffic guides will be mounted along the affected route to aid navigation the axis during the repair works.

While affirming that the State Traffic Management Authority will be on ground to coordinate movement, the Commissioner appealed to the citizenry for their understanding and patience amidst various ongoing road projects within the State, assuring that the end result will be beneficial to the people and Lagos.
The Lagos State Government had reiterated its commitment to the reconstruction and improvement of infrastructure across the state as part of its smart city project.
The massive road rehabilitation which is being executed by the Lagos State Government is part of the Transportation and Traffic Management Pillar of the state’s THEME agenda which ensures the upgrading of infrastructure across the state.
This is necessary to address the worsening state of these infrastructures which includes road, bridges and flyovers and the various safety concerns that have been raised.
