The Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom, Johnson Amatserunleghe, has emerged as the most senior chief and ‘traditional prime minister’ of the Warri kingdom, displacing Ayiri Emami who held the position of ‘Ologbotsere.’
This came as the Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, commenced the revalidation and confirmation of the Warri Council of chiefs on Thursday, at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiris in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The confirmation follows a public notice dissolving the council and other committees in the Kingdom.
Ayiri served as traditional Prime Minister of the kingdom during the reign of the immediate past Olu, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli.
He was, however, suspended as Prime Minister of Warri by the Ginuwa Ruling House following allegations of abuse of office.
Meanwhile, others whose chieftaincies were revalidated at the colourful event, included Gabriel Awala, Kofi Kartey, Robinson Ariyo, Dr. Roland Oritsejafor, Roli Oritsejafor, Edwin Olley, Solomon Arenyeka, Clement Maleghemi, Eugene Ikomi, Omolubi Newuwumi and Billy Besi Giwa respectively.
In the meantime, it was learnt that the exercise will be performed in batches.
