The Olu of Warri Advisory Council has announced dates for the burial rites of HRM Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri Kingdom, who passed on to the great beyond on December 20, 2020.
Making the announcement in a statement released on Thursday, May 27, 2021, the Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Johnson Amatseruleghe (JP), also disclosed when the Olu of Warri designate, Prince Tsola Emiko, will be crowned the new Olu of Warri.
Chief Amatseruleghe, while explaining that decision on the dates for the activities followed due consultation with the Regent, Prince Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh; the Ginuwa 1 Ruling House, the Council of Chiefs and Olu-in-Council, announced that the burial rites for the late Olu will commence on June 18, 2021, with a Commendation service in Warri, and followed by traditional burial rites at Ode-Itsekiri, on June 19.

He added that the burial activities, which will last for 14 days, will end on July 2, 2021.
Speaking further on the line up events in the kingdom, Chief Amatserulenghe revealed that Prince Tsola Emiko will official be crowned the 21st Olu of Warri on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
According to him, the coronation will witness a colourful ceremony and will commence with a boat regatta at the ancestral home of the Itsekiri people, Ode-Itsekiri, in Warri, Delta State.
The paramount chief, in the statement, appreciated Itsekiris in Nigeria and in the Diaspora, for remaining steadfast and showing immense support ahead of the period of transition.
