The Chairman of the Delta Chapter of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, Comrade McCartney Obrotu, has called on the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) over charges awarded to him for electricity consumption.
Expressing his displeasure in a petition addressed to the BEDC, Obrotu stated that the BEDC handed him unsubstantial figures as cost of electricity tariff for the month of December 2020, as well as an increase in electricity charges between 2017 and 2020.
He further stated, in the petition that, upon noticing the abnormalities, he launched a verbal complain to the marketing officials of the electricity distribution company but his move was futile.

Obrotu stated:
On notice of these abnormalities, I did made verbal coplaints to the following persons who were BEDC marketing officials assigned to my area: (1) Excel Regina Evi Parker (2) Staphen Otagbo (3) Emmanuel Otuada (4) Cynthia Nkeonyeasua Nwanze which yielded no positive result and I later made written complaints dated 14th June 2019, 21st August 2019 and 24th July 2020.
According to the Delta Parliamentary Staff Chairman, the amount allocated too him as electricity tariff does not correspond to the actual amount of electricity consumed.
While stating that he had not gotten a reply to his petition on how to address the situation, Obrotu called on the BEDC to reconcile his electricity bill for the period in view.
Delta indigene also requested that a letter of apology be addressed to him by the BEDC just as he demanded that a prepaid metre be provided to him to solve the issue of deal with what he regarded as an unhealthy relationship.
Obrotu’s outcry is coming at a time when many Nigerians have launched complains for receiving bills that do not reflect the amount of electricity they consumed.
