The Senate has summoned the Managing Director of Nigerian Gas Marketing Company, Justin Ezeala, over gas sales, purchase agreements, pricing with various companies, and non-compliance with due process in the Auto Compressed Natural Gas Project with NIPCO Gas.
Through its Committee on Gas, the Senate requested the details of gas sales and purchase agreements with gas companies on Wednesday.
The committee which Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe chaired, decided to summon Ezeala after a closed-door session by its members at the National Assembly.
The committee had expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the group CEO of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, who has been accused of preventing National Assembly committees from performing oversight functions on subsidiaries of NNPCL despite the committees being empowered to do so by the Petroleum Industry Act.
The committee demands a financial statement on the auto CNG project with NiPCO, for which NGMCL has approved an investment of N30 billion.
To this end, it vowed to use relevant provisions of the constitution to enforce the appearance of the MD of NGMCL should he fail to honour its invitation again.
