The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has reasserted its stance on the upcoming 2023/2024 season, set to commence in September, by emphasizing the crucial licensing procedures that clubs are required to adhere to.
In accordance with the regulations governing club licensing, the NPFL has outlined the necessary steps for clubs to undertake in preparation for the upcoming season.
This directive was conveyed through an official memorandum issued by the NPFL’s Head of Operations, Davidson Owumi.
Owumi has communicated that the registration process for the forthcoming season will be considered complete only upon the submission of conclusive evidence that demonstrates compliance, particularly in cases involving outstanding financial commitments to both current and former players and officials.

In an unequivocal warning, Owumi highlighted that clubs found to be delinquent in these financial matters will not receive authorization to enroll new players for the upcoming season.
Furthermore, Owumi stressed the importance of clubs that have undergone arbitration proceedings under the purview of the NFF Arbitration Panel. He emphasized that such clubs must approach the NPFL’s designated registration coordinators with verifiable proof of compliance or documentation corroborating amicable settlements reached between the concerned parties.
