Frank Lampard is poised to be named temporary Chelsea manager until the end of the season, just over two years after being fired by the club.
He has been unemployed since January, when Everton fired him after less than a year in command.
The former Chelsea and England player was in charge of the Blues from July 2019 until January 2021, when he was succeeded by Thomas Tuchel.
Graham Potter, Tuchel’s replacement, was fired on Sunday.
Chelsea are 11th in the Premier League and drew 0-0 with Liverpool on Tuesday, with Lampard, 44, in present at Stamford Bridge.
Despite spending more than £550 million on new players this season, the Blues are 14 points outside the top four.

On Saturday, they play Wolves in the Premier League before facing Real Madrid in the first game of their Champions League quarter-final on April 12.
Lampard previously managed the team, guiding Chelsea to the FA Cup final in his first season after joining from Derby County.
Lampard, the club’s all-time leading scorer, guided them to 44 victories from 84 games, but he suffered five defeats in his last eight league games, as many as he had in the previous 23.
After being fired by Chelsea, he was appointed manager of Everton in January 2022, but he was fired eight days before his one-year milestone due to nine losses in 12 Premier League games.
