Chrisland School has been shut down by the Lagos government after a kid died there. On February 9, Whitney Adeniran, a pupil from Chrisland’s Opebi Ikeja branch, passed away while participating in a sporting event.
As the deceased’s family persisted in scrutinizing the school, Blessing, the deceased’s mother, accused Chrisland of incompetence. She said that because the school had not planned for an emergency at the event, first aid was not provided.
Despite the doctor’s suggestion of a cardiac arrest, the mother said the girl had no history of heart disease. The school is currently shuttered while an investigation is conducted, according to Lagos education commissioner Folasade Adefisayo.
“We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on family, friends, and acquaintance of Whitney and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident”, the commissioner stated.
Whitney had reported “not-too-buoyant” health on January 20, in contrast to what her parents had claimed, the management at Chrisland School acknowledged earlier in response to criticism from the public following the 12-year-old student’s death.
Due to proximity issues, the school said it chose to transport Whitney to a health center rather than a hospital. Chrisland pointed out that she slouched in public while denying any suspicion of foul play in the death case.
“Our immediate response was to take advantage of proximity by identifying the nearest medical facility to take her to, where the doctor on duty administered oxygen and every aid possible to her,” the institution had added.
