The arrest of Doyin Okupe, a former spokesperson for former president Goodluck Jonathan, has been verified by the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to DSS, the leader of the Labour Party was detained at the request of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The confirmation was provided in a statement that Dr. Peter Afunanya, the DSS’s public relations officer.
Doyin Okupe was detained by the DSS at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos this morning (Thursday), at the EFCC’s request, according to Afunanya.
“He has long been handed over to the Commission, which requested for the action.
“Okupe was billed to fly to London via Virgin Atlantic.”
