For the first time since his nation began launching an attack against Ukraine in February of last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a cease-fire order.
When announcing this event, Putin highlighted that the truce would only last for a short time and occur on Orthodox Christmas, which is being observed by both nations this week.
