Harry Kane of England has been forbidden by FIFA from donning the “OneLove” armband while competing in the current World Cup in Qatar.
FIFA has warned Kane that if he enters the field with the armband during their opening encounter against Iran on Monday afternoon, he would face an immediate yellow card (today).
The armband is not permitted under FIFA’s severe rules regarding player attire, which also apply to other items of clothing. The armband’s purpose is to express solidarity with marginalized communities that face discrimination in the country of origin.
It was reported that if Kane wears the armband a second time in their next match, the skipper could be slapped with another yellow card, automatically banning him from the third game.
