Adamu Announces Lawan As APC Consensus Candidate
The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has announced Ahmad Lawan, senate president, as the party’s consensus presidential candidate for the 2023 general election.
Adamu announced the choice of Lawan at the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja.
Some members of the NWC, sources said, kicked against the move and insisted that other presidential aspirants which include Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Engr. David Umahi must be allowed to contest the primary election at the convention scheduled for Eagle Square, Abuja.
Adamu told the NWC that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Buhari.
2023 Presidency: I’ve Not Anointed Any Candidate – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has disowned Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the choice of Ahmad Lawan as consensus presidential candidate of the party, noting that he has not anointed anyone.
Reports had emerged to the effect that Adamu announced Lawan, senate president, as the party’s consensus candidate during the party’s NWC meeting on Monday, claiming to have done so with the president’s nod.
The announcement prompted northern APC governors to visit Buhari, after which they restated their position on power rotation to the south, while also pointing out that the president confided in them that he had not anointed any candidate.
No Single Person Made Buhari’s Victory Possible – Presidency Replies Tinubu
The presidency has addressed claims by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State, that he made President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in 2015 possible.
The presidency, in a statement, said that no single person should claim the glory for Buhari’s victory in 2015.
Tinubu had while addressing APC delegates in Abeokuta, Ogun, said Buhari had contested for president three times and failed until he supported him in 2015.
But refuting the claim, the presidency in a statement by Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, said.
Osinbajo Storms Out Of Eagle Square As Tinubu Maintains Lead
Nigeria’s vice president and presidential hopeful on the APC, Yemi Osibanjo, has stormed out of the Eagle Square, the venue of the party’s presidential primary.
Osinbajo who is trailing Bola Tinubu, who is establishing a wide lead over other aspirants, stood up and left the venue.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State appear poised to clinch the APC ticket ahead of Rotimi Amaechi, Ahmad Lawan and Osibanjo.
There’s been bad blood between the vice president’s camp and Tinubu’s camp, following the former’s decision to join the presidential race, which Tinubu apparently considers an affront.
APC Primary: Tinubu Kicks As Viral Text Alleges He’s Plotting Muslim-Muslim Ticket
Former Lagos Governor and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has distanced himself from a viral text message alleging that he intends to pick a fellow Muslim as his running mate if he emerges as APC’s 2023 presidential candidate.
A statement issued by his media office and published on his official Instagram handle, @officialasiwajubat reads:
We have been informed of a text message going round APC delegates at Eagle Square, Abuja purportedly from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that with his imminent victory at the APC Presidential Primary and emergence as the party’s presidential candidate, the APC leader has now decided on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
This is nothing but a lie. It has no basis whatsoever. We enjoin the distinguished delegates to ignore this completely.
Atiku Congratulates Tinubu On Clinching APC Presidential Ticket
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated the Bola Tinubu on his victory at the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abubakar emerged as the candidate of the opposition party at the PDP special convention in May, after defeating Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, among others.
The former vice president took to his social media pages to congratulate the former governor of Lagos State, stating that the APC presidential primary was a hard-fought contest.
Dumebi Kachikwu Defeats Moghalu To Win ADC Presidential Ticket
Roots TV CEO, Dumebi Kachikwu, has beaten Kingsley Moghalu to clinch the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mr Kachikwu scored 977 votes against Mr Moghalu’s 589 votes. Chukwuka Monye came third with 339 votes at the primary exercise in Abeokuta on Wednesday night.
Mr Kachikwu is the younger brother of former minister Ibe Kachikwu.
Moghalu who ran for president under the Young Democratic Party (YDP) platform in 2019 had defected to the ADC after a leadership crisis in his former party.

APC Ticket: We Lost The Battle, Not The War – Osinbajo Declares
Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice president, has said losing the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a loss of the battle, but not the war.
The vice president who spoke on Friday Osinbajo in Abuja at the campaign office of The Progressive Project (TPP), a coalition of support groups that backed him for the presidency, noted that he remains committed to the dream of a new Nigeria.
Osinbajo, however, assured that he would support Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate.
A statement from Laolu Akande, the vice president’s spokesperson, said he was received by a large crowd at the TPP office in Abuja, and he described the clamour for a new Nigeria as a movement.
