Presidential hopeful on the platform of the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has donated N75 million for repairs of the St Francis Catholic Church, survivors and relatives of the attacks victims in the state.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu said this when he accompanied Tinubu’ to the
Palace of Olowo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye during a condolence visit.
According to a breakdown of the fund donated by the presidential aspirant, N50 million would go to the worshippers that sustained injuries and deceased relatives, while N25 million goes to the church for other activities including repair works.
Tinubu, who condemned the attack on innocent worshippers, promised to work with Akeredolu to bring succour to the victims.
Describing the attack as an evil that must be defeated, the former Lagos State governor said:
There is no place for such hatred and wanton taking of innocent lives in our country.
Gunmen invaded St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo on Sunday leading to the death of over 30 people who were mostly children and women.
Tinubu lamented that the South-West had never witnessed such an attack of such magnitude saying it was horrendous.
He called on federal and state governments to work together to strengthen the security around the country.
Governor Akeredolu, thanked Tinubu for pausing his presidential campaign activities less than 24 hours before the APC convention.
The governor vowed to either bring the assailants down to the state for justice or take justice to them.
