A serving senator and former Borno governor, Kashim Shettima, has said that vice president Yemi Osinbajo, presidential hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks the capacity to rule Nigeria while stressing that Bola Tinubu is the best man for the job.
Shettima said these when he appeared on Channels Television on Friday.
According to him, though the vice president is a good and nice man, he cannot make a good leader.
He said:
Osinbajo is a good, nice and a very decent person but nice men don’t make good leaders because they tend to be nasty. They should be selling ice cream, pop-corn and ‘gbagbologbo’.
Senator Shettima further dismissed rumours that Tinubu will be standing down for Osinbajo in the forthcoming national convention of the APC.
When asked specifically whether or not Tinubu was prepared to surrender his ambition and back the vice president or any of about 23 other aspirants seeking the party’s top ticket, Shettima said:
How do you expect an elephant to step down for Lilliputians?

The senator, who has been on the campaign trail with Tinubu across the country, said nothing outside a free and fair primary would be acceptable to the campaign.
Meanwhile, some members of the APC, under the aegis of Gaskiya Youth Movement, are asking the federal high court in Abuja to disqualify Tinubu from the party’s presidential primary, scheduled for Monday 6th and 7th.
The members made the request in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/774/2022, filed before the Court.
The APC and Tinubu are listed as first and second defendants, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is listed as the third defendant.
Part of their prayers include asking the court to determine whether Tinubu can participate in the APC primaries or that of any other political party, given his “questionable educational background and date of birth.”
The plaintiffs are also asking the court to declare that “upon consideration of the relevant laws, Tinubu cannot participate or contest in the primary election on the platform of the first defendant (APC)”.
They are also seeking a “declaration that given the questionable educational background and date of birth, (Tinubu) among other questionable issues, the first defendant (APC) cannot allow and/or permit his participation in the primary election for the office of the president.”
The group also wants the court to declare that Tinubu “cannot participate by presenting himself in any primary elections with any political party in Nigeria to be nominated as a presidential aspirant for the 2023 general election.”
