Liverpool have beaten Chelsea to clinch the 2022 FA Cup courtesy of a 6-5 penalty shootout victory over their rivals from West London.
The game, which ended in a goalless draw after regulation time, was forced to penalties in what could be described as a repeat of the Carabao Cup final in February which ended 11-10 on penalties and Liverpool lifting the title after playing an exhilarating 120 minutes without a goal at the national stadium.
With the victory at the Wembley Stadium, Liverpool are still on course for an unprecedented quadruple of trophies.

Having won the Carabao Cup earlier in the year, the Reds will face Real Madrid in a repeat of the 2018 UEFA Champions League later in the month of May. Liverpool are also second in the Premier League table, although it seems likely that Manchester City will retain the Premier League title.
Meanwhile, the defeat at Wembley is Chelsea’s third FA Cup final defeat in a row after losing in 2020, 2021, and 2022 to Arsenal, Leicester City, and Liverpool respectively.
Both teams, in the meantime, are two games away from the close of the 2021/2022 English Premier League season.
