Nollywood stars, including Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Iyabo Ojo, and Uche Jombo have marked the #EndSARS protest anniversary.
On 20 October 2020, soldiers opened fire on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate, with an unconfirmed number of people reported dead.
Today is the first year of the incident and several Nollywood stars celebrated their first anniversary on social media.
On his Instagram page, Akindele simply wrote: “We will not forget 20.10.20 Lekki Massacre.”
Toyin Abraham simply wrote “20.10.20” with a drop of blood symbol.
Iyabo Ojo wrote: “Silence is not an option. #Sorosoke generation.”
Uche Jombo chipped in: “October 20th is our #endsars. We will not forget you.”
Falz also wrote: “365 days ago, Nigerian citizens were shot and killed at the toll gate by our own military men.”
Mr Macaroni: “The People are Not the Enemy! Stop Killing Us! Stop Oppressing us! All we want is a better Nation that we all can be Proud Of!
May The Lives we have lost to any form of Government Oppression or Police Brutality never be in vain. #AlutaContinua ✊🏿”
Today we honour them because they have sacrificed their very existence for a cause bigger than all of us.
They live forever in our hearts 🕊
We will never ever forget ❤️✊🏾
According to actor Yul Edochie, “We must never forget. 20/10/2020. #endsars protest. The deaths of our heroes must not be in vain. We must remain committed to building a new Nigeria that works for all.”
