Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has condemned members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike spoke as his Zamfara State counterpart, Bello Matawalle, and some other elected members of PDP were dumping the party for APC.
The Rivers State Governor said:
People who could not win ordinary election. The party used technicality and went to court and got victory. Now, they say they are leaving the party. Hopeless, shameless human beings. People who have no conscience.
Wike said this in obvious reference to Matawalle and other members of PDP who gained their positions following the annulment of victories of PDP candidates in the 2019 general election by the Supreme Court.
Governor Wike also added that the governors and other elected members of the PDP defecting to APC lack conscience and cannot be trusted.

He stressed that it is ludicrous and hypocritical of the APC to demonise the PDP and then still turns around to poach members of the same party.
Governor Wike, who spoke at the flag off of the Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Road and bridge with spur to the East-West Road at Woji town on Tuesday, posited that those defecting from PDP, after riding on the back of the party to power, have proven that they are treacherous.
The Rivers Governor further accused the APC led government of blackmailing and coercing some PDP governors and members to join the ruling party. He reiterated that no amount of blackmailing or intimidation will make him leave the PDP.
He added:
Bring everything you have against me, I will not join you. Rivers state will not join you. Even if it is only Rivers state in this country, we will continue to be Peoples Democratic Party.
Recall that Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, and his Cross River State counterpart, Prof. Ben Ayade, had earlier defected to the APC.
