Nigerians residing in United Kingdom, on Friday, staged a protest demanding the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari for abandoning Nigeria to come for medical attention in the country.
Buhari departed the Presidential Villa for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 2:30pm on Tuesday after which he proceeded to London for a routine medical check-up.
Angry Nigerians, despite the United Kingdom Government subsisting COVID-19 ban on mass gatherings, took to the vicinity of Abuja House to protest against President Buhari.
Most of those that spoke, defended the President’ resignation if he cannot fix the nation’s health system rather than traveling abroad.
In a video tweeted on his verified Twitter handle, a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, said the protesters assembled with a mission “to chase the president back home.”
The Police came but the #HarassBuhariOutOfLondon went on. A frightened @MBuhari refused to come.
In a separate tweet earlier, Reno said:
The eagle has landed to harass the ego out of London. It is happening people.
#HarassBuhariOutOfLondon is on. God willing, I will see you at Abuja House, 2 Campden Hill, Kensington, London W8 7AD by 12 noon.
We will observe #COVID-19 protocols even as we chase @MBuhari back home.
Buhari is on a medical checkup in the United Kingdom at a time when Nigerian doctors are on strike.
The doctors, under the aegis of the National Association of Resident Doctors Association of Nigeria (NARD), embarked on a strike action over unpaid salaries and other allowances.
