Text: Matthew 2:1-11
Everyone that the spirit of God dwells in has an unspeakable joy oozing from heavenly source. Joy, therefore can be described as the absence of sorrow made possible by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Surely, the coming of Jesus Christ brings the presence of the Holy Spirit to mankind.
The Bible says in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
To this end the birth of Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecy as written in Isaiah 9: 6-7.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given and government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of peace.”
Note that when the angel of God appeared to Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus in Luke 1:26-32, he addressed her as a highly favored woman among women.
I pray as you are preparing for the year 2021, all round favour shall be your portion in Jesus name.
Why is the coming of Jesus a sermon of joy?
Firstly, Jesus has come to take away our burden and sin. 1Peter 2:24 says: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we being dead to sin should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed”.
Secondly, He has come to reconcile us with our Maker. In 2 Cor. 5: 18-19, the Bible says: “And all things are of god who hatt reconciled unto himself by Jesus Christ and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation”
Thirdly, He has come to return us back to our original home and foundation. John 14: 1-3 says: “Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house there are many mansion…
Fourthly, He has come to open our ears to the true word of God. John 17:17 says: “Sanctify them through the truth; thy word is truth”. In John 8:32 He emphatically said: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”.
For those who are being confused by all kinds of doctrines and philosophy, he said “unto them, I am the way the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the father, but by me”. John 14:6
Lastly, Jesus has come to give all creatures another opportunity to reign with God. In Matthew 11:28-30, He says: “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me: for I am meek and lowly in heart: and he shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Therefore, anyone who wants to experience this season of joy in every area of life must become a new creature. You need to examine your way of life if actually you are on the right track of salvation. 2Cor. 5:17
Merry Christmas and spirit filled New Year in advance in Jesus name.
