Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Thursday, said he was yet to speak directly with President Muhammadu Buhari concerning the shooting of #EndSARS protesters in the State.
While speaking at “The Morning Show” on Arise TV on Thursday morning, the Governor said that he called President Muhammadu Buhari twice on Wednesday, to inform him of the killings of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate, by the Nigerian Army on Tuesday, but was told Buhari was not available.
He said in the interview with Arise TV:
I made calls to the President twice yesterday (Wednesday) but was told he wasn’t in the office. The second time he was said to be at the FEC meeting; I haven’t spoke to him directly but I have reached the Chief of Staff to the President.
Recall that the governor came under heavy criticism from Nigerians after he claimed, in a statewide broadcast that no life was lost in the shooting that spanned about 30 minutes on Tuesday.

Sanwo-Olu stated in the course of the broadcast:
No sitting governor controls the rules of engagement of the military. I have, nonetheless, instructed an investigation into the adopted rules of engagement employed by the officers of the Nigerian Army that were deployed to the Lekki Toll Gate last night.
We are comforted that we have not recorded any fatality against the widespread claims in circulation on social media.
In the mood of the nation at this time, I have directed further that we have an immediate suspension of all state activities for the next three days except those that are connected with the governance of security in the state and the management of the current issue.
I’ve also directed that at all public buildings, we will lower the flag for the next three days as a mark of solidarity for the protest.
