The Federal Government has condemned the attack on the Nigerian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, by Nigerian citizens, describing the act as disgraceful and criminal.
Aggrieved Nigerians living in Indonesia destroyed properties of the embassy during a protest against discrimination and targetted raids by immigration officers.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, condemned the act on Friday via Twitter. He vowed that perpetrators would be identified and punished accordingly.
Absolutely deplorable and disgraceful criminal behaviour by Nigerian hooligans, who without justification, attacked the Nigerian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia today.
Totally unacceptable behaviour.
Every effort will be made to identify them and see they are severely punished.
The protest came after a 41-year-old Nigerian man fell from a nine-storey building following an encounter with immigration officers.
In an over three minute video which is circulated the social media, the aggrieved Nigerians, in the course of the protest, held placards, chanting “enough is enough.”
They accused Indonesian immigration officers of carrying out targeted raids against Nigerians and also killing some of their compatriots for not giving them the money.
The protesters who were visibly angered by the treatment meted on the by Indonesian authorities, attack the Nigerian High Commission in the country for being quiet over the plight of Nigerians in the country.
Also, they vandalized properties in the compound housing the embassy, pulled down the Nigerian flag and made an attempt to set it on fire.
They further went on chanting “No more Nigeria,” saying that there are no regards for the lives of Nigerians in Indonesia and the High Commission and the Nigerian government has failed to address it.
