Following the discovery of the sum of N4.3 billion in a secret bank account, members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, may, this week, summon Governor Rotimi Akeredolu over, barring any last-minute changes.
According to reports, it was alleged that Governor Akeredolu had been making moves to reach out to David Oleyelogun, the Assembly Speaker, over the matter.
Both the Commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa, and the accountant general had been questioned by the House since the Assembly commenced an investigation on the said money found in the secret account.
Reports across the weekend revealed that the House had concluded arrangements to invite Governor Akeredolu to explain his side of the story this week.
Following the discovery of the secret bank account the House, last Friday, the State Assembly resolved to get to the root of the matter irrespective of the parties involved.
It was also learnt that those pushing for the appearance of Governor Akeredolu before the House are lawmakers who are allegedly loyal to the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.
Further aggravated the matter is the fact that some lawmakers loyal to Olusola Oke are pushing for the appearance of the governor.
Oke was recently endorsed by the Unity Forum, a faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reports also suggest that there are plans by some lawmakers to call for his impeachment over the alleged financial impropriety except the governor takes some urgent proactive actions.
The governor and the Assembly are not in good terms since2019 after the leadership of the House raised the alarm over the dilapidated structure in the Assembly complex, alleging that reptiles often entered their offices and the hallowed chamber.
This latest development may, however, serve as an opportunity for payback by the lawmakers who were allegedly embarrassed by the governor when they raised the alarm.
