With Lagos State becoming the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned a 70-bed COVID-19 Isolation and Treatment Centre located situated in the premises of Landmark Exhibition Centre, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

According to reports that the Isolation Centre was constructed by the Lagos State Chapter of the Young President Organisation, YPO.
The centre, it was gathered has a ten-bed intensive care isolation unit, four ventilators, monitors, respirators, mobile x-ray, ultrasound and oxygen equipment.
At the unveiling, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the facility would provide additional capacity to support the already existing isolation facilities in the state.
The governor 15th governor of Nigeria’s commercial capital stressed that the facility was a clear demonstration and commitment of his administration to an all-inclusive system of governance, adding that it signifies a working relationship between the public and the private sector.
He said:
What we have seen here today is another demonstration of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) collaboration between the State government and a Consortium; the Young President Organisation which is peopled by crop of professionals from different fields coming together to fund this laudable project.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, commending the YPO for the project, said that the facility had been taken over by the state government but would be operated in collaboration with the organisation.
Stressing that the facility was ready to commence patient admission, the 55-year-old governor, however, expressed satisfaction at the level of preparedness of the medical professionals that would operate it.
In the meantime, the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyo Onigbanjo, coordinated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the management of the facility by both parties.
The MoU was signed between the Lagos State Government represented by the Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, and representative of YPO, Tatiana Mousalli.
Meanwhile, to operate the facility are 80 clinical and non-clinical staff, including doctors, nurses and intensive care professionals, who had undergone training on Infection Prevention and Control, as well as COVID-19 case management.
Lagos State currently has a 110-bed isolation facility at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, and another 100-bed capacity centre at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.
